Organising March

Organising March

I cannot believe we’re into the third month of 2017 already. This year is going by in a whirlwind, which means my wedding is getting closer and closer. I feel a little disorganised right now, in life and with my blog and it’s about time I rectified it. I hope by sharing this as a blog post, I will be able to stick with my plans. I bought a beautiful diary and have barely used it since January, so I need to get back on top of things. I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself, as with working full time, running a blog, social media, keeping a home, trying to get the the gym three times a week and planning a wedding, I really don’t need any excess pressure!

Organising March

Writing Blog Posts

I’ve been focusing a lot of my efforts on Instagram of late. I’m not very ‘arty’ and I find that other than makeup, photography is my only other creative output. I feel like I’ve been utilising all of my spare time to get quality content for Instagram, and as such have been neglecting my blog. My social media accounts were born out of my blog, so this seems counter-intuitive and therefore I shall be aiming to rectify this situation. I won’t be putting myself under pressure to write three posts a week as I have done previously. I will burn out. I will therefore be aiming for 1-2 posts per week, as well as posting one image per day on Instagram. Wish me luck?

Commenting On Other Blogs

I got very good at commenting on other blogs last year, and found some brilliant corners of the web by doing so. I found most of these blogs via taking part in Twitter chats, but I’ve had no time to join recently, therefore my commenting has slipped. I’ve tried to improve this by commenting more so far this week, but it is something I need to keep up with for the rest of the month and then year.

Attending Events

I’ve been so lucky to have been invited to a lot of blog events so far this year, with at least one per week, something I’ve never really experienced so far in my five years of blogging. Unfortunately I’ve been finding myself exhausted and cash strapped come the end of the month. Most events take place in the city centre, where I don’t work or live, therefore there is always a travel expense to any event I attend. With the additional travel time, I’ve been getting home late and just end up exhausted. I’m skipping the gym in order to attend and eating poorly as I’m grabbing fast food on the go. I definitely need to start really considering which events I go to, and whether or not the content it provides me with will be enjoyed by my readers.

Organising My Time

As alluded to earlier in this post, my spare time is pretty short at the moment; my weekends have been taken up with wedding planning and activities since we got engaged in October. My evenings should be spent at the gym, cooking and keeping my home in check, but I’m so exhausted all the time that I’ve not been doing this. I need to commit to getting back to the gym three times per week, otherwise my membership and PT sessions are a waste of money. I need to make time each week to actually write content for my blog, as that is what I love. I also think I need to reduce my screen time on an evening, so that I can go to the gym, cook food, spend time with my fiance etc.

Do any of you have any tips or advice on managing blogging and working full time? I’d love you to share them with me.

Lauren xx

Honey, I so know how you feel! Trying to fit everything in that you tell yourself you need to fit in is what does it. I’m also trying to prioritise and have found that upping my exercise has totally restored my van value voom. Yes I’m tired but I have the energy to keep going. I’m sleeping better too. Maybe commit to one gym and one PT a week so you can do one/two blogs? Xx

Its so hard trying to juggle everything right. My only advice to makes a really good editorial calender for your blog, planning your blog posts way in advance. That way you allocate yourself set times to work on the blog and then can free up other evenings for the gym etc. I made such an effort with my schedule at the start of the year that it’s been a lot easier to juggle everything. Hope that helps x

Lovely post Lauren and couldn’t agree more with some/most points myself.
I really applaud anyone that has the time for everything and posting more than 2 times a week.. I really struggle, but then I guess my priorities are spending time with friends and family and looking after myself rather than running myself dry on a hobby.
I always struggle with events as they’re always in Leeds centre and living and hour and a half away and finishing work at 4pm and having a toddler and a hubby that works till 5, makes things difficult. So, I’m very much trying my hardest to attend events that I know I can get content from with the added bonus of seeing people also. ๐Ÿ™‚ Two birds. ๐Ÿ™‚
It’s definitely about a schedule and with wedding planning also, I don’t envy you in trying to fit it all in. But in all honesty, don’t pressure yourself. Your real friends and cheerleaders will be around even after breaks etc. ๐Ÿ™‚

I recently took a break in blogging to realise where I wanted to go with it and focus on what content I wanted to create and when to do it. So I take Sunday’s to schedule my week and sort out when I have time and don’t have time to do things. Scheduling in gym, work, blog posts and social events is easier than you think. You just have to make time to plan it all ๐Ÿ™‚
