Boohoo Dress of the Month

Earlier this month I was contacted by one of my favourite online brands to ask if I’d like to take part in the Boohoo Dress of the Month challenge. Each month, a group of bloggers are sent a surprise dress, and asked to style it.

The dress I was sent was the Boutique Sara crochet lace bodycon dress, in white, which I initially didn’t think would suit me. I’ve not worn a bodycon dress for a few years now, as I have put on a little weight, and felt that they didn’t compliment my figure. Given my initial thoughts, I was a little dubious as to how I could make it work and style the dress for this campaign.

As soon as I tried on the dress, I fell in love with it. I thought it complimented my figure well, was the right level of sassy, but the high neck and sleeves gave it a classy feel. The dress is fully lined which made me feel comfortable as not a lot of skin was on show beneath the dress.

I styled the dress for a Friday night date night, pairing it with my well worn and beloved All Saints leather biker jacket, my favourite Louis Vuitton clutch, and nude Christian Louboutin’s. The biker jacket dresses down the dress, which meant it was perfect to go from bar to dinner.

Without the jacket, I think the dress looks far more formal, and could be the perfect dress for a special occasion, not a wedding of course, but that’s because I have strong views about anyone wearing white other than the bride! Talking of weddings, I actually think this dress would be perfect for my upcoming hen do as I’ve been looking for a white dress, which is the right mix of being classic yet fun.

I paired the dress with expensive pieces, as I think the dress looks expensive too. You’ll probably be surprised to hear that the dress itself is only £30, which I think is an absolute bargain. I had thought of styling the dress up for a festival given festival season is upon us, but to be honest I’m more of a cocktails and dinner than music and a field kind of girl.

How would you have styled the Boohoo dress of the month? Do you like how I chose to style it?

This post is in collaboration with Boohoo, I was sent the dress in exchange for a post, however all opinions are my own.

Love this look! The whole concept of a surprise dress sounds pretty interesting, sounds like the perfect idea for a start up monthly subscription box haha. Love all of the accessories you’ve used here – especially the bag!
