Well Ladies…It has just been Mothering Sunday in the UK and this has inspired this post. Mothers pass on advice to their daughters, so which beauty tips / fashion advice did you get from your mum? My mum is my best friend, and we are joined at the hip so I have gotten a lot of advice from her over the years!

Mum and I on her 50th Birthday. Mum in Reiss & LK Bennett shoes, me in Celeb Boutique & Dune shoes. |
What ‘I got from my Mama…’
I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup when other girls at school started wearing it, at the time I was angry with my mum, but now I’m grateful, I think children should be children for as long as they can. I personally HATE seeing schoolgirls with loads of makeup on, I think the sexualisation of children is completely wrong.
My mum instilled in me from an early age, (I used to watch her), that I must ALWAYS remove my makeup before bed, and this is something I do religiously.
I was also told to use moisturiser on my face twice a day.
I was told to use a good quality foundation and mascara, and the rest of the products I use could be cheaper.
My mum wouldn’t let me shave when I was younger, she used to pay for me to get legs & bikini waxes, unfortunately I suffer from ingrown hairs, so this has been one piece of advice I haven’t continued with.
In terms of fashion…I guess my mum has always let me express myself, and hasn’t been one to say ‘you aren’t wearing THAT’, shes happily let me wear ripped tights, converse, studded belts & eyeliner, as well as a girly dresses and mini skirts. She is also very honest with me, if something doesn’t look good, she will tell me, likewise if she loves something on me, she will give me the confidence to wear it if I’m lacking it. My mum has also influenced my addiction to handbags, she had me spotting a fake Louis from 10 paces aged 12…
So ladies…what did you get from your ‘mama’?
Your hair is gorgeous! x
What a lovely picture of you and your mum. I know what your talking about handbags, I've a guilty pleasure for Louis Vuitton 😉 My mom always told me to drinks loads of water and to moisturise 🙂 xxx
Thanks ladies! Xx
i totally agree with what you say about children staying children for aslong as they can. i started wearing make up at 12, but only concealer as i had started to get acne and was self conscious, but these days u see young girls caked in bright blue eyeshadow and orange face..its just not a good look! fab picture 🙂 <3

I can totally understand you wearing makeup. I just think it is wrong when young girls do it to attract older men. Something not right there!!! Thank you xxx
