Travels; Rhodes Part 1

Sheraton Rhodes Resort

My other half hit the milestone of 30 last month, and for his present I booked a week in Rhodes.  Having bought our house last year, we haven’t been abroad for over two years, so it was a much deserved break for both of us.  We stayed in Ixia which is in the North of the Island.  From our hotel, The Sheraton Rhodes Resort, we had beautiful views of the Aegean Sea, which we enjoyed impressive views of on the balcony of the two beautiful al a carte restaurants which the hotel was home to; one Italian and one Greek.

We had a mountain view room, despite being on the 11th floor, we weren’t far from the ground, as the hotel is built on the side of a mountain.  If you like a view from your room, then I’d recommend the sea view rooms, however, if you just like peace and quiet for the little time you spend in the hotel room, I’d definitely opt for the mountain view.

The hotel had three pools; one on the 6th floor and the other two on the 1st floor, as well as its own private beach.

The food was fabulous at the hotel, so much so I couldn’t manage one dessert on my own.  Andrew and I shared the above, which was vanilla ice cream, draped with plums and wrapped in filo pastry and then baked for a few minutes in the oven; heavenly.

Have any of you visited Rhodes? I will be sharing some more of our trip later this week.
