As soon as I found out that YSL were launching a foundation which offered the same results as the cult Touche Eclat, I knew I had to get my hands on it. Loyal readers will know I have been searching for the perfect foundation now for a few months and have already tried MAC and Clinique.
When out shopping I saw that YSL were offering a 7 day trial of their new foundation and I immediately started swatching the samples they had. They offer three different tones with several shades in each, there is the B range which is Beige, BR which is Beige/Rose and BD which is Yellow/Beige. I was immediately drawn to the Beige range and the sales assistant advised that B50 is the most popular shade. I thought this too dark for my skin and opted to sample the B40 (I wear NC 25 in MAC).
As you can see from the pictures the sample comes in a lovely little box and there is a very generous amount of product in the sample. Now this is a 7 day trial, but three weeks later, I still have half left and I have been using it daily. I wanted to really give this product a true trial before reviewing it for you and as such have waited three weeks to do so.
The formula is light and creamy and the coverage is medium and buildable. I used my MAC duo fibre brush to apply it and it blends like a dream. I didn’t notice anything immediately myself, but my mum did, she immediately noted how nice the foundation looked, and after a couple of days of wearing I did look illuminated and radiant. The foundation is extremely light on the skin, and it does almost feel as though you aren’t wearing any foundation. I was worried that this would mean that the durability of the product would be poor, but I was completely wrong, this foundation lasts all day whilst I’m at work. I do use my MAC Select Sheer Pressed Powder in NC25 to set it, and it really does last.
I have been using this product for three weeks now, and I have bought the full sized product as I was so impressed. Out of all of the foundations I have tried recently, this is definitely the best and I’d therefore recommend it. The product retails at £28.00.
As for the packaging, I love it. It’s clean and classic, the bottle is glass and you can see how much product you have used, but even better, the foundation comes with a pump which ensures your foundation stays fresh and germ free which I love.
I can’t tell you how pleased I have been with this foundation, and as someone who has used Touche Eclat but never really noticed anything special, I was sceptical. I’d definitely recommend this to everyone.

I love this foundation too. I've used it everyday since it came out. I was worried at first because it's not oil free so I thought it would make me breakout (all other oil based foundations make me breakout) so far though it's been great. I feel my skin looks so much better with it on too and I've had a lot of compliments. Glad you like it too
I'm going to get a sample of this just before my holiday, I think that would be the perfect time to test it out!
