Slendertoxtea Review

Detox teas have become increasingly popular over the last couple of years, claiming to aid detoxing, slimming and cleansing. I have recently been drinking a teatox by Slendertoxtea*. This is a 14 day teatox, which consists of drinking one cup of tea every morning for 14 days, and a cup of tea every other night for the same duration. Having previously tried a different teatox, and not getting on with it so well, I was eager to see how this one compared.

The Daytox and Sleeptox tea’s vary in makeup and the ingredients in each are;

Daytox Ingredients:

Hawthorn Grain, Red Bean, Sterling Bean, Radish Leaf, Camellia Seed, Camellia Flower, Green Tea, Fennel Seeds.

Sleeptox Ingredients:

Valerian Root, Large Hawthorn, Red Bean, Sterling Bean, Green Tea, Radish Leaf, Camellia Seed, Fennel Seeds, Camellia Flower.

Slendertoxtea is made up of 100% organic ingredients, which are said to increase your energy, increase your metabolism, help you to ‘beat the bloat’ and aid weight loss.

So how did I get on with Slendertox?

I started the tea on Friday of last week. Slendertoxtea recommend you start on a weekend or a day off, I figured Friday morning would get it into my system for the weekend ahead, if I were to experience any of the side effects. Yes there are side effects, and please, please, please, before taking anything, make sure you are aware of the side effects. It amazes me the amount of people who simply ignore these before putting something into their system. I didn’t follow their eating plan, as I found this restrictive and feel I am controlling my eating well enough on my own.The main side effect is associated with the laxative effect which comes from drinking the team; cramping and the need to go to the loo more often. They explicitly state that this should not include diarrhoea, vomiting, severe cramping or dizziness, and also that the effects are likely to be impacted by the strength of the tea, i.e. how long you brew it for.

Having tried a teatox previously, I decided to brew my tea for 2 minutes every time. If you drink green tea, you will find it palatable, if not, just down it, that’s what I did. You also brew this in warm or cold water, never hot. This made the consumption a little more difficult for me, which is why I chose to down it.

On day 1 I felt pretty much fine, I drank my tea in the morning and on the evening. I didn’t visit the loo any more than usual, but I did have cramps; nothing severe but noticeable nonetheless. By Saturday morning, I needed to get to the loo. I weighed myself before and after (as I was writing My Body Update), and I quite literally dropped 4lbs. The rest of the weekend was pretty much the same, cramping and being a little more ‘loose’ than normal. Monday was another story. I had to run to the loo three times, on the hour, every hour, from 9:30am. This wasn’t pleasant. I had terrible cramps, I was gassy, and my stomach was very much ‘upset’. It did settle down after this, and I definitely looked slimmer, but whenever I’ve had a bug that has resulted in an upset stomach, this usually happens.

I drank my morning tea on Tuesday, still a little crampy, and by lunchtime I had a serious headache. I ended up not going to my Zumba class as I didn’t feel up to it. I also made the decision not to drink the sleeptox tea. I thought I’d skip a day on Wednesday, but I still felt a little rubbish.

I therefore decided today (Thursday), not to continue with my teatox. As Slendertoxtea state, if you have the adverse side effects, you may be allergic to one of the ingredients. I was concerned I’d become dehydrated, lose my electrolytes, and basically make myself ill. Losing weight is not worth making yourself ill.

So in summary, I was unable to complete the full 14 day teatox from Slendertoxtea, but I gave it 5 days before deciding to end it. I definitely lost weight drinking this, which you can see from even one day in, but I wouldn’t continue for my own health. If you’ve been interested in trying a teatox, go for it. You may not have the side effects I did, so it’s definitely worth giving it a go, you can always stop, right?
