The Reading Tag

I’ve wanted to do some of the Tag posts that I’ve seen for months, Emily from Bambi’s Beauty Blogs shared this one with me, and I really like it because it is about books, and I adore a good book…thanks Emily!  It’s also the first time I have read one of these Tag’s so it’s a little more unusual…

Do you have a certain place for reading at home?

No longer at uni (for three years now, I feel so old!!) I now tend to only read at bedtime.  This is usually the only chance I get to read for pleasure, as I work full time and my weekends have just been crazy of late. When I was at Uni I couldn’t possibly read in bed, I’d just end up falling asleep, so it was always done at a desk!

Bookmark or random piece of paper?

Always a random piece of paper…I don’t even own a bookmark…

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter or a certain number of pages?

I used to only stop after I finish a chapter, but now I’m not as strict with myself, usually because I just think one more page before sleep, one more page…

Do you eat or drink when reading?

Nope!

Do you watch TV or listen to music when reading?

Never! I have to have silence when I read, otherwise I don’t feel like I can concentrate.

One book at a time or several at once?

I’m currently reading three books, 1 which is for pleasure, and 2 that I am reading for work.

Reading at home or everywhere?

If I get the chance I’d read anywhere.  At my last job, I was able to commute via train so I used to read every morning and night which I loved, I’d switch off into my book world and my commute would fly past.

Reading out loud or silently in your head?

Oh gosh, I can’t imagine reading out loud! Definitely in my head.

Do you ever read ahead or  skip pages?

I never do this, no!!! Why spoil your book?? I sometimes have to put my hand over the page as I read so I’m not tempted to jump a few lines, haha!

Breaking the spine or keeping it new?

This will probably make me sound a little odd…books I read for pleasure, I like to keep new.   However, when I was at Uni, I used to break the spines as it made me feel better when they looked well used!!!

Do you write in your books?

Books I read for pleasure, definitely not.  Work books, I write my name in the front page, just in case they get lost.  My uni books were covered in highlighter’s never mind pen and pencil!

What are you currently reading?

Currently for pleasure I am reading ‘Shadow of Night’ by Deborah Harkness.  This is part two of a trilogy.  I read one and two a good while ago, and three hasn’t long came out.  I’m re-reading so the story is fresh in my head before beginning the third!  This is the first time I have EVER read a book twice as well, so it must be good…  I am also reading ‘Scrum Mastery; from good to great servant leadership’ by Geoff Watts and ‘User Stories Applied for software development’ by Mike Cohn.

Are there any other bookworms out there reading my blog?  I’d be interested to read more of these tags as they are so different!!
