Having seen almost every beauty blogger I follow with Sali Hughes ‘Pretty Honest’, I had to get my hands on it. I am so glad I did. I love this book.
This book is great for a beauty novice, as well as those more experienced. Broken down into chapters, with a picture of Sali or her friends, there is an introduction to each subject, in which Sali Hughes shows her witty personality, followed by a set of recommendations.
The book does what it says on the cover, Sali is ‘Pretty Honest’ within the chapters, and I love her for it. From her bikini line preferences (did you know a Hollywood makes your hips look wider?), to the fact she isn’t afraid to challenge the stereotype that women who wear makeup are somewhat lacking in intelligence.
The book isn’t aimed at one age group; I’d happily buy this for an older or a younger family member; it is great for all the women in your life; advice on anti-aging and makeup for teenagers, as well as everything in between.
This has to be one of the few books that has taught me something, whilst making me laugh out loud in equal measures, it is cleverly written and full of wit.
It was also refreshing to read that someone agrees with my pet hate of older women cutting their hair off, because it is ‘expected’…
Within the first few chapters I was reminded of ‘Supermodels Beauty Secrets’ by Victoria Nixon which my mum bought me in my teens, from this I learned that MAC Spice lip liner is the perfect nude for all skin tones, and that neat Vodka numbs feet from pinching shoes (I must admit, I just drink it rather than pour it on my feet, does the same thing!), you can buy this here. Sali’s Pretty Honest is far more informative than the former and I definitely prefer it.
I think every woman should own Pretty Honest, it would make the perfect gift for any special lady in your life, so what are you waiting for? Go buy it now!!
